You Rescued Me...
This slideshow is dedicated to Susan Cuervo at Holly's Garden Rescue, to those rescuers who give so much of themselves to save animals in need, and to all adopters who open their hearts and homes to these deserving souls so that they might have a second chance at happiness. There I sat in silence
abandoned and alone
suddenly a prisoner
through no fault of my own.
The nights grew ever longer
every day the same
as passers-by glanced quickly
at a number not a name (and then)
You rescued me
like a beacon in the night
You found me in the darkness
and filled my world with light
You led the way so I could see
I'm in your debt eternally...
...you rescued me.
Just when I thought the time had come
to meet my fateful end
you opened up your heart and home
and gave me hope again...
But there are so many like me
with so much love to share
who'll never know a happy home
or have someone to care
I know now I'm a lucky one
for them I hope and pray
I thank you for my second chance
I'll cherish every day (because)
